Adding your own cartridges

Tap + on the shelf, open a file with Bitfold from Files or AirDrop, drag files onto the shelf on iPad, or drop them into Files › On My iPhone › Bitfold. Bitfold reads .gb, .gbc and .zip files of cartridges you own.

Saving your progress

Bitfold saves automatically when you leave a game and resumes where you were. You also get four save-state slots with thumbnails, and battery saves work as they did on the cartridge.

Rewind and fast-forward

Hold the rewind button to play back the last few moments. Fast-forward runs at 2× to 8×, with pitch-shifted audio.

Changing the look

Open the menu to switch between the twelve editions, choose a screen palette for monochrome games, or turn on the pixel grid, dot-matrix shadows and LCD blur.

Controllers and keyboards

Pair a Bluetooth game controller in iOS Settings, or connect a hardware keyboard, and Bitfold picks it up while you play.

iPhone Duo layouts

Closed, Bitfold shows the pocket console on the outer display. Open like a laptop, it becomes a clamshell; open like a book, it becomes two pages. Choose a layout yourself in Settings if you prefer.

Privacy

Bitfold collects nothing. Read the privacy policy.
